February 14, 2020 COVID-19 report

Beyond Canada, there is currently a cruise ship in quarantine off the coast of Japan with a phased disembarkment in-progress. The ship has 12 Canadians with confirmed cases of COVID-19. Three are in a local hospital –two in stable condition and one in serious condition – who are keeping our hopes that all will recover well.

The Holland America Line cruise ship that was rejected from docking at five ports over fears of the coronavirus will be allowed to dock tomorrow, Thursday, in the port of Sihanoukville, Cambodia, where its passengers can finally disembark.

Happy Sunday! From what we hear, the Canadians repatriated from Wuhan and who are quarantined at CFB Trenton for 14 days (12 days remaining), are doing well and recovering at this time mainly from their jetlag. Let’s hope it remains this way and they can at the end of the quarantine go home and happily enjoy their families and friends.

Please pass on our welcome, best wishes and let each one know that while we understand being quarantined in a small room for 14 days is unpleasant, we are thinking of them and sending love and good thoughts.

The federal government is repatriating 211 Canadian citizens from Wuhan, expected to arrive shortly. They will arrive at CFB Trenton and will immediately be quarantined for 14 days, says Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams, so they will not impose any risk to the general population.

The plans for the repatriation of Canadian citizens from Wuhan, China, who are scheduled to arrive at CFB Trenton this week, continue. They will be immediately quarantined and, thus, as per our Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David Williams, they will not impose any risk to the general population.
