Nurses share their successes and challenges during National Nursing Week

During a time when nurses are working tirelessly and selflessly through the COVID-19 pandemic, the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) will honour the impact they are having every day on the lives of Ontarians and the health system, through a series of virtual events planned during National Nursing Week (May 11-17).

Counting the missing deaths: Tracking the true toll of the coronavirus outbreak

The official counting of deaths is just a fraction of the real toll of COVID-19 in about every country affected by the pandemic. The New York Times, doing important work, found at that least 60,000 more people have died during the coronavirus pandemic than the official Covid-19 death counts report, a review of mortality data in 15 countries shows — providing a clearer, if still incomplete, picture of the toll of the crisis.

Addressing differential access to virtual care due to technology inequities – Please help

The North Western Toronto Ontario Health Team BPSO OHT has collectively identified issues related to inequitable access to basic technology during the pandemic. Clients who do not have cell phones or computers, or cannot purchase enough data on their devices for a virtual appointment, are not able to continue their care and this increases their health risk.

Migrant agricultural workers are important members of our communities – they deserve respect and protection during the COVID-19 crisis

Today we focus on a forgotten group, one that is vital to our food chain and one that has been late in receiving policy attention in government plans: migrant agricultural workers.
